Australian Cattle Dog Health and Care
The Australian Cattle Dog is a generally healthy breed, but like all breeds, they are prone to certain health conditions. An Australian Cattle Dog breeder like EFR Mini Heelers are always aware of this.
Some of the most common health problems include hip dysplasia, eye problems such as PLL or PRA, degenerative myelopathy, and deafness. Many of these are inherited genetic disorders and can be tested for before breeding the Australian Cattle Dog parents to prevent incidences of these health problems.
The Blue Heeler, Red Heeler and Queensland Heeler short double coat is easy to care for and requires minimal grooming. Regular brushing will keep their coat shiny and sleek. Baths should only be given when necessary.
Some Australian Cattle Dogs love water and will jump in water troughs, rivers, lakes, and even the ocean. Other’s do not like water much at all and may even be unhappy at bath time.
